SHADOW OF THE MOON TOUR 1997

Ritchie Blackmore - Guitars / Mandolin

Candice Night - Vocals / Penny Whistle / Recorder

Joseph James - Keyboards / Vocals / Recorder

Jessie Haynes - Guitar / Vocals / Recorder

MICK CERVINO - BASS

John O. Reilly - Drums / Percussion

Before the inaugural tour the first Blackmore's Night album 'Shadow Of The Moon' had been released. However, as has been the case with all Blackmore's Night albums, there was no recording band as such, Blackmore playing a lot of it himself, but also choosing to use a few selected musicians as well. In some cases these members have appeared in various touring incarnations but the recording musicians are beyond the scope of these pages.

The tour was due to start in Spain in September, however Ritchie had been suffering with a finger  problem. A recurring situation that had something to do with the break he suffered way back in ’87 whilst on stage with Deep Purple.

His Doctor stated, quite categorically that he should not play the guitar for at least three weeks.

A memo was sent to all the promoters along with a copy of the Doctor’s report.

As such the European dates were put back, some falling by the wayside in the process and Blackmore's Night was launched on stage in Tokyo.

Below are all the dates known from this period.

If a show, in part or full has been released on one or more bootlegs these are listed in yellow.

ADAM FORGIONE - Keyboards / Vocals

rachael birkin - violin / vocals / recorder

alex alexander - Drums / Percussion

Alexander was drafted in for two weeks of intense rehearsals then the band hit the road.

Probably not the happiest of tours, there was the inevitable friction with various band members. Jessie Haynes quit straight after the last show and Blackmore implied there would be a few changes before they toured again.

At some of the shows support band Des Geyers Schwarzer Haufen would join the band on stage for 'March The Heroes Home', 'Renaissance Faire' & occasionally one or two other songs.
